After thirteen years of building a life and a dental practice, I never dreamed I would leave Indiana. In 2013, after visiting Benzie County, our three children asked my husband and I some serious questions about how and why we chose to live in Indianapolis. Those questions caused us to get out our moral compasses to see if we were truly living our most purposeful lives. We realized that overly busy big city life with crowded neighborhoods, communities and schools was not our best route for being able to serve others.
Our wise youngest child declared, “people have teeth everywhere.“ He proposed that I could find a new job up here, and daddy the writer, could work from home. This began my search to find just the right practice that embraced my ideal philosophies of conservative dentistry using high quality clinical skills. I was also looking for an office small enough to always have time for genuinely knowing patients and their families, their joys and concerns as well as their teeth.
I could not have envisioned a more suitable mentor than Dr. Charlie Kehr. Working together for a year I learned that we shared so many of the same thoughts and practices for treating patients. I took over the practice full time in May 2015. My heart seeks to preserve the legacy of Charlie’s thirty five years in practice by continuing to take loving care of his patients while slowly adding new patients as well. My hands and my head seek to follow my passions of encouraging prevention, listening to the needs and concerns of each individual patient and providing gentle, quality care.
When I am not practicing dentistry or staying up to date with new technologies and research, I enjoy testing new products as a clinical advisor for the Dental Advisor. I enjoy spending time with my family. Michael, my husband, and I met while attending DePauw University. He is my best friend and we have been married since 2003. We have three inquisitive children, Maya, Michael and Quinten in the 9th, 8th and 7th grade. I seek to find the good and beauty in everything around me, which is why I adore photography. When I'm not at the office or out with my camera, you can frequently find me in the kitchen. I strive to be a good example of healthy eating and living, but "everything in moderation, including moderation" is one of my favorite quotes. I also love waterskiing, kayaking and sailing where I am in, on or near the water. I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Lisa Musgrave (I practiced under my maiden name "Foerster" in Indiana, and when we moved, my children begged me to have their same last name.)
